Bass Guitars

"I started playing guitar when I was 10. It all started when my brother was learning to play bass, so I decided to do one better... learn the guitar. After a few years my brother gave up, so I picked up the bass and decided I was a much better bass player than guitarist, so stuck to that!"

"My biggest influence when growing up was Guns N Roses. Duff McKagan's playing style has formed a lot of my playing as a bass player. I also got into Metallica in my early playing days. Once I heard Cliff Burton playing his bass solo on Kill Em All, I realised then that a bass can do so much more than just play root notes... it can be the equivalent of a second guitar!"

"My musical tastes changed over the years going from 80's metal to Hair Metal to the heavier Metal like Anthrax, Megadeth, Pantera, Machine Head and Slayer, then to the more technical bands like Rush, Mr Big, Winery Dogs and Dragon Force. Having such a wide range of influences has enabled me to bring many different styles into my bass playing, which I intend to use in the new material!"

And what about future goals?

"I am excited to be part of a writing band again, but most importantly a writing metal band! It’s great to get back to the music that I love! It's been too long and I feel that with my driving bass style, I can bring a lot of energy into the new songs and to the live shows! I can't wait!"

I would like to thank...

"My patient parents who put up with the noise of my early days of trying to learn and then taxiing me to gigs and practices! Also, my wife and children - they put up with the bass booming out of my music room and me heading out most weekends and during the week to play or practice!"

Live Rig

"I mainly use Fender and ESP bass guitars through a Hartke HA2500 amp with a Hartke XL 1 x 15 and 4 x 12 cabs! They definitely move some air! I also use a rack mounted Line 6 wireless unit because I can't stand being restricted!"

Bottom Line

"I love music, I love playing music, I love writing music..."
